  1. January 11th - 7PM. Basic theory (Not a note more than you actually need)
The nuts and bolts of music theory, what is a key signature? What are intervals? scales? chords? A real look under the hood of music. Presented with an eye towards what you truly NEED to know as a dulcimer player.

  2. January 16th - 7PM. The emotional value of chords
Why does this chord make me happy? Nostalgic? Nauseous? More importantly how can I make others feel nostalgic (or nauseous)? The emotional value of chords will cover why the note relationships of certain chords evoke certain feelings. We'll talk about why they work harmonically. But mostly we'll talk about how they can be used.

  3. January 18th - 7PM. How to actually use this stuff in real life.
Ok, now what? How to use what you know to help you figure out tunes. Adapt your favorite songs to the dulcimer. And overall just have more fun with your instrument.

If you can only attend one workshop, make it the last one, as this deals with the practical
application of theory in your playing. This is the "how" after the "what" and the "why"
